*Hails Emergence Of Secondus As PDP National Chairman
A group; Waziri Frontiers Network (WFN) has lauded former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for dumping the All Progressives Congress (APC) to re-unite with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which he co-founded, describing his action as being in the right direction.
The Pro-Atiku group, however, urged the former Vice President not to tarry in formally declaring interest in the 2019 Presidential election since he is considered one of the most competent in terms of experience in the race.
WFM made this known in a statement signed by its National Publicity Director, Constance Ihejirika, stressing that Atiku remains the last man standing in the race for the 2019 Presidency with backlog of experience and clout.
The group said it took the decision to back Atiku for 2019 after a careful review of political situation in Nigeria and the state of the nation which it said had derailed long ago under the reigning APC.
It said the view canvassed by Atiku for dumping the APC was not different from that held by majority of Nigerians who had observed that the reigning government has no agenda to better the lot of Nigerians.
It also urged Atiku remain strong in the face of intimidation and possible bullying by the ruling party, stressing that at the nick of time, Nigerians would decide their next fate on politics by weeding out all elements that have been out to repress the bright future that God had purposed for Nigeria.
The group said from its survey, Atiku will derive great strength from the Nigerian youths who it stressed have been yearning to “Change the Change”, just as it promised to assist in mobilizing more youths in support of the former Vice President.
“We believe in Atiku as the most experienced politician in Nigeria at the moment. We hold confidence in his ability to steer the ship of state if given the mandate. He will do well if entrusted with power.
“However, we are eager to impress it on Atiku to run an issue based campaign and to avoid focusing on personalities anytime he resolved to contest in the 2019 election. Doing this will enable Atiku to stay focused and avoid incendiary reactions from familiar quarters.
The Pro-Atiku group also hailed the emergence of Uche Secondus as new National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), contending that Secondus from his long service in the opposition party has a lot to offer the party.
It advised Secondus to do all in his capacity to bring the PDP together as a party with emphasis on re-uniting the disaffected members with the fold for progress and in the interest of members’ desire to return to power in 2019.
