The presidential spokesman Femi Adesina has debunked media report that Buhari had appointed Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi as director general for reelection campaign.
Adesina said the president could not have appointed a campaign election director general when he had not become a flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress.
“Well, me I believe that things like DG will come when you have become a candidate. If the president steps into the fray now, he’s an aspirant just like any other aspirant. Having a DG comes when you become a candidate of the party,” he stated.
There have been speculations that the President had appointed Amaechi as his campaign director for the 2019 Presidential election, although the choice of Amaechi is being subjected to intense criticisms.
President Buhari has not announced his intention to run for second term in office, although he has been holding consultations with party members, sensitizing them on his preparedness to do so.
Both the supporters and opponents of President Buhari had hitherto expressed misgivings on his health status and age, which they opined many not enable him feature in the next Presidential contest, but the President has of late been exuding confidence on ability to do so.
