*Election Peaceful So Far-Aregbesola
The tension, which had hitherto trailed preparations for the governorship election in Osun state, has started giving way to hope as the election took off at the appointed time without any skirmish recorded so far.
Voters had defiled the early morning rainfall by trooping out in large number to cast votes for their respective political parities.
The large turn out of voters for the governorship election had been attributed to the high level of political consciousness of the people of Osun as well as the publicity blitz that had greeted preparations for the election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), according to reports, made improvements in the distribution of electoral materials in voting centers, while voters trooped out as early as 7.00am to do their accreditations.
The governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, according to reports monitored on AIT Television arrived at his ward in Ilesha at about 10.45 am for accreditation.
Speaking with correspondents at the voting center, Aregbesola said so far the arrangements put in place by INEC for the election has been good.
Voters in the polling units located at Alekuwodo, Ogo Oluwa, Fagbewesa, Isale Aro, Asubiaro and other areas in Osogbo local government came out en-masse to exercise their voting rights.
Voters and INEC officials were at their units also in the surrounding towns like, Sekona, Akoda in Ede South local government and Ipetumodu, Edunabon, Yakoyo in Ife North local government.
So far, there has not been any complaint about shortage of electoral materials at the units visited just as security men guarding visited polling units appeared to be cautious, although they subjected voters to thorough search in each of the check points leading to the polling units.
Some Chieftains of APC had however alleged that they were being harassed by security operatives as attested to by Hon Fafiyebi, member House of Assembly and some students at Ilesa.
Earlier the National Publicity Secretary of APC, Alhaji Laid Mohammed was questioned by security operatives, although he was said to have been released in the early hours of Saturday.
A top member of APC in Osun state, Senator Bayo Salami alleged that some security operatives invaded his Osogbo residence in the wee hours of Saturday but could not gain entrance.
